This looks interesting! What is the explanation behind this piece and its inspirations?

PedroZorrilla responds:

Thanks for the question. My inspiration for this were the brutalesque sculptures from Soviet Union. I wanted to convey this idea that the significant image of crucified Jesus has become an emblem of a decaying society, not anymore of salvation. Every part of his body becomes a shape, symbolizing our modern need of looking for answers in the scientific analysis of things, not in the spiritual. Everything is pointed out in a rational way, Jesus becomes a deconstructed being, with all of his qualities picked apart and qualified, not anymore a symbol of hope. He is forced to proudly exhibit his bloody intestines to a crushed society that believes the macabre, the shocking, the transgression is the real purpose; showing his empty insides represents the emptiness there is nothing after suffering, it is the only path, and the reward to it is nothing but bland earthly knowledge.

This looks exactly like the game's art style! Plus, what's Katana ZERO Zine 2023?

YuriKadry responds:

Thank you very much, I used the same colors from the game to look as faithfull as possible.
The KZ Zine is a digital magazine where some artists, writers and musicians from the KZ discord come together to make a big collab with a bunch of exclusive pieces. We make one every year.

I'm glad to see one of my favorite Scholastic books appear on Newgrounds' front page as fan art! Any plans to draw based on Eric Carle's book classics?

vinnx4 responds:

nothing beats cute children's books fr.... i probably wont draw more of Carle's characters specifically but drawing other characters in this same style could be fun!

The results remind me of the Cores from Portal and Magenite from Pokemon!

SonkyMonky responds:

Anyone getting Scorn and Resident Evil vibes for the right side of the parasite?

Shinji looks kind of depressed here, any reason why?

CaldoChica responds:

Sorry for taking a while to get back. Yeah, I guess it was a small joke that he had to get into the costume when he probably did want to.

I was initially a Garry's Mod artist; I decided to step up my game by establishing a Newgrounds account for experimental pieces.
